How to Calculate the Pressure Drop of a Water Distributor Nozzle

The wedge wire nozzles are made from high-quality stainless steel and wedge wire. The wedge wire is precisely wound and welded onto support rods using a special process, forming uniform and continuous filtration slots that are narrower at the top and wider at the bottom. The slot size can be customized.

Advantages:

  • Fine filtration

  • Large filtration area

  • Anti-clogging and backwash capability

  • Easy maintenance

Formula:

In the formula:

  • ξ is the resistance coefficient of the nozzle. For nozzles with smaller slot widths (0.2–0.3 mm), ξ can be taken as 3.0–5.0. For wider slots (0.4–0.5 mm), ξ can be taken as 1.5–3.0.

  • ρ is the density of water, typically ρ = 1000 kg/m³.

Example:
For a nozzle with a slot width of 0.25 mm, ξ can be taken as 4. Substituting into the formula, the calculated pressure drop is 1056.25 Pa.

Different types of nozzles are suitable for different water qualities and flow rates. Selecting the proper model according to on-site conditions is key to ensuring the service life of the nozzles and the treatment capacity of the ion exchanger. Through scientific calculation, one can choose the appropriate slot width, slot area, and acceptable pressure loss.
