What is Drum Screen

JX Filtration Rotary Drum Screen

A drum screen is a type of screening equipment used to classify materials based on particle size. It is also known as a rotary drum separator.

Drum Screen

Compared to the drum screen with a central axis, the shaftless drum screen has a simpler structure. On the end of the drum near the vibration motor, several steel bars are evenly welded around the drum.

The other ends of the steel bars converge to the central axis of the drum. After being fixed, they are connected to the vibration motor through gears. When the vibration motor starts, the drum rotates, and the screening principle is the same as that of a shafted drum screen.

Advantages of Shaftless Drum Screens:

Shaftless drum screens are more material-efficient, offer larger screening space, and are easier to maintain when the drum malfunctions. As a result, shaftless drum screens are widely used. For example, in the pretreatment of municipal waste, they can effectively screen out the required waste. The absence of a shaft helps to prevent material entanglement and improves screening efficiency.

Shaftless drum screens are widely used in industries such as power generation, mining, metallurgy, building materials, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals. They are commonly used for the classification and screening of medium and fine-grained materials to improve material quality.
