What Are the Advantages of Wedge Wire Cylinder

  • Non-Clogging: The wedge wire cylinder screen surface wires have a trapezoidal (or triangular) cross-section, and the slots on the screen are formed by the sharp angles between two adjacent surface wires. When solid particles pass through the screen, they make point contact with the slot edges.

Theoretically, solid particles are either retained on the screen or pass through the slots, with no third clogging state possible. This feature is crucial for reducing operational resistance, maintaining good hydraulic distribution, and enhancing the backwashing efficiency of resins.

  • High Strength: Due to the welded construction using stainless steel wires, the wedge wire screen has high strength. This screen can be cut with a grinding wheel and machined on a lathe without causing loosening or deformation.

  • Large Flow Capacity: The wedge wire screen has relatively low resistance compared to plastic filter elements of similar size, significantly increasing its flow area. Consequently, the flow capacity is substantially increased at the same resistance level. In other words, the number of filter elements needed can be reduced while maintaining the same output.

  • Good Temperature Adaptability: Compared to ordinary plastic filter elements, stainless steel wedge wire screens have a much broader temperature range of applicability.

  • Adjustable Slot Size: Different users require different slot sizes in the wedge wire screen based on their filtration equipment and media. Since the screen is continuously welded on specialized equipment, the gap between the stainless steel trapezoidal wires can be adjusted to meet various user needs without increasing costs.

  • Corrosion Resistance: The stainless steel material used in these screens typically comes in three types, which can meet the requirements of various water treatment processes. By selecting the appropriate material, the filter equipment can run economically and safely in neutral, acidic, and alkaline water, as well as with reagents like caustic soda, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and salt.
