What is Rotary Drum Screen
Structural Description
The rotary drum screen consists of a drum-shaped metal frame that rotates around a horizontal axis. It is fitted with a stainless steel mesh that serves as a support and working screen.
Workflow
The process consists of three steps:
- Wastewater inflow
- Filtration by the screen
- Discharge of sludge and filtered water, which is either discharged or directed to the next treatment stage.
Working Principle
When the drum is in operation, the wastewater to be treated enters the drum axially and flows out through the screen. Impurities in the water (such as fine suspended solids, fibers, pulp, etc.) are trapped on the inner surface of the drum's filter screen. As the trapped impurities are carried to the top of the drum, they are washed off by backwash water sprayed from the outer side of the screen, flowing into the discharge trough. This process achieves solid-liquid separation.
During the operation of the rotary drum precision filter, adhesive substances in the aquaculture water gradually adhere to the screen, reducing the aperture size and affecting filtration performance. Therefore, the cost and convenience of replacing the filter screen are important criteria for evaluating the overall performance of a microfilter.
